Diego Rivera

Wall painting was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. Numerous examples have survived the times. The preferred medium for wall painting is fresco, in which pigment is mixed with limewater and then applied to a lime plaster wall that is either still wet or hardened and dry. Diego Rivera was a well known fresco painter.  His work helped establish the Mexican Mural Renaissance. Rivera went around the world working with many artists. He eventually landed in Mexico, making many paintings. He became involved in a government sponsored Mexican mural program.
