Role of the artist 2

The second role of an artist would be to make a visual record of the people, places, and events of their time and place. In this sculpture by John Ahearn, he made a bust of a young african-american woman in 1981. The look of her face shows the possible time this was made. At the time this was made, he could have been in heavily populated african american community. It represents the time and place he could have been to make this or the time and place this woman lived in. It describes a lot about this woman and where this could have been.
